For instance, this year we are going to pick a couple different military families to "adopt" for Christmas.  We plan to pick families who really are trying to get by, and whose soldiers are home this year.  The reason in that - say we take an E2 - he makes more money when deployed-  some people forget that the soldiers who are here in the US also need a little pick me up sometimes.
